NARENDRA KUMAR DAZZLED WITH AN ULTRA GLAMOROUS
WOMEN’S WEAR COLLECTION AT LAKME FASHION WEEK

Mumbai, 31st March 2008: Drawing from the past to create a fashion future, Narendra Kumar’s Autumn/Winter 2008 women’s wear collection at Lakme Fashion Week was a romantic line of ultra glamorous women’s wear inspired by a love tryst in the maze of Mahal and the pavilion of Jaipur - the Pink City.  Catering to a global audience, Narendra dedicated the all pink line of day to formal wear with small doses of red all sprinkled with glitter and glitz to the discerning fashionistas.
The focal point was structured garments like sharply cut jackets, trousers, over coats, skirts and dresses.  The fabrics in a cocktail of peach, fuchsia, silver, red, wine and burgundy were rich and lavish turning taffeta, Indian silk tweed, wool, silk Lurex, georgette, satin and suede into cleverly constructed attire.

Narendra opened the show with a stylish embroidered Duchess silver satin waist coat worn over a maroon net top and silver Duchess pants. While the jackets were intricately cut and embellished with hand embroidery or prints inspired by abstract roses; the printed silk gowns with beadwork were more fluid and feminine in form. Suede was given a very stylish treatment in pink for georgette dresses and corsets, but while the embroidery was discreet, it was the interesting detailing with pleated ruffles that edged necklines and hems that were the eye catching elements of the garments.

Making an impact on the ramp were the red hand textured rouched and tucked silk taffeta dress, the fuchsia textured Duchess satin bustier dress, the gold silk Lurex set of jacket, trousers and embroidered top,  the very futuristic Lurex jacket with giant lapels, the pink silk lined suede zippered jacket and the pleated fuchsia georgette top with appliqué embroidery.
The maroon and white satin corset gownt encrusted with crystals was the ultimate show stopper on Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut.

Narendra Kumar’s latest collection proved that when it comes to creating beautifully constructed high voltage glamour wear, he is still the Master Craftsman.
